J&E CAROUSEL HORSE FARM

From John & Eileen Cassell

Welcome

We are thinking its time we retire The Black.   Thanks to all who have bred to him and thanks to all who own his babies and seem to be very happy. He will continue to live here and continue to be spoiled .

The 2009 foals arrived, click here.

This may be your last chance to get a foal of Blacks!!!

We are located just outside Houston in Conroe TX, on 10 secluded acres. Our horses are the love of our life and we hope to enrich your lives by getting to know them and maybe you'd like to take one home or let our stallion sire one for you. Our farm has AQHA and APHA horses, most foundation line and registered with NFQHA.

Enjoy your visit with us and please drop us a line .

WE do boarding, our fencing is pvc and most paddocks have a walkin stall. I do full board, including worming regularly, I am a vet tech retired after 40+ yrs and all horses are within view of our house, we wanted to be able to keep a eye on them at all times. There are several miles of trails and a patrol learning arena just down the street which we have access to. We have good security also as no one can come on the property with out us knowing it, we're secluded, its calm and quiet here and all visitors love to just sit and enjoy. There is a large pond fully stocked with bass, catfish, and perch.

This is PEPOS PEEWEE. We call him "The Black". A own son of Peponita.  He is sire to all our Quarter Horse foals and all but a few of the paints as well. He is 86% foundation bred. He sires looks, conformation and he passes on his great temperament. He's a kind and smart breeder, and can tidy up heads in most foals. He is truly a remarkable stallion that I often put our grandchildren and beginners on as he is so gentle. He is registered with the NFQHA,APHA,ApHC for breeding

Sired by two-time World Champion Senior Cutting Horse, two-time World Champion Cutting Horse, Superior Cutting Horse, NCHA Silver and Bronze Award winner and NCHA Hall of Fame award winner, Peponita.

We also now ship semen at mares cost.

This is a testimony from someone who knows what kind of foals Black produces:

Dear John & Eileen ,
I was looking at your website & noticed you were going to retire your black stud horse & was compelled to write.  I own a mare out of your stud horse I call Sugar.  I purchased Sugar & her mother together from a man in Corpus Christi.  The gentleman wanted to sell her mother & threw Sugar in on the deal when she was about a year old.   She hadn't been handled much, but as soon as I got her home you could tell she just wanted to be friendly.  At the time I hadn't heard of your horse but I was familiar with Peponita & his accomplishments.  This mare just wanted to learn & please you from day one.
She is now 4 & could quite possibly be the best mare I have ever owned.  This is not something I would just say as I have broke, owned & sold a lot of horses.  She has become a part of the family & both my 8 year old & 5 year old son ride her regularly.  I think a lot of this comes from your stud horse, & it has been a pleasure having her around.  I have enclosed a picture if you would like to see what she looks like now.  She is being used regularly for various ranch work, team roping & just taking care of my two boys.
I hope this email finds you & your horse doing well.

Thank You,

             Colin K. Martin

Eileen, Just a short note to let you know how pleased We've been with the quality of foals sired by your black stallion.  As you know, We began breeding our mares to your stud three years ago.  In addition, we have acquired three foals bred out of your good mares.  We are currently starting our first foal crop, of his babies, under saddle and couldn't be happier.  Each foal is stamped with his quiet intelligent mind.  They are inquisitive people type horses that take to training readily with an honest disposition. None have ever offered to buck or resist in any way.  They learn quickly and move with an athletic ability that makes them suitable for any performance event that you wish to compete in.

Our son makes his living team roping in the PRCA.  We have always kept him on good horses, because there is a direct link between the success of the roper and the quality of the horse that he rides.  But today, a PRCA caliber rope horse can sell upwards of $50,000.00.  We have had great success training our own, but, have experienced difficulty in consistently finding the correct type that stands up to the hardness and the stress of rope horse training. We have recently begun advanced rope training on two of our four year old horses, we acquired through you, by the Black.  Both are progressing extremely well!  Both show loads of cow sense and even took to our banging and clanking mechanical training steer "Buford" quickly with a minimum of fear.  We have seen lesser horses try to jump a fence to avoid this perceived monster.  In short, we believe we've found the disposition and athleticism that we've been after for so long.  In the thirty-five years that Tom has been training professional rope horses these stack up with the best one or two that he's ever owned.  What makes them unique is that they both stack up because of the similar characteristics found in all of the Black's foals.

Whether it's being trailered, clipped, shod, bathed, doctored, trail road, or performance trained, the Black's foals maintain their quiet easy disposition and handle whatever is asked of them.  It's in their blood through their pedigree.  Congratulations on your successful program and we'll call soon to arrange for this years breeding season.      Tom and Cyndi, Parker Ranch, Magnolia, Texas

They have purchased Mo,Redford & Cali and have a daughter out of one of their own mares. look for them on the foal pages.

You may quote me when I say that both of our two foals have great minds...they are smart, quick learners, and have fairly laid back dispositions.  Bess, aka Diamonds for a Gal, will be 3 this year, and her experiences under saddle never cease to amaze us.  So far she is calm and more than willing.  The hard thing for us is keeping her going! (too laid back to run off or pitch a fit!)  Both of them react well to things that spook them...they will just flinch, then stop and check out whatever made them spook in the first place.  I just cannot say enough good things about their mind and character.  The one thing I was most impressed with Black was his laid back attitude and friendly demeanor.  My oldest one, Bess, is very much a 'people' horse.  If she spots you in the pasture she will stop whatever she is doing and come over to say howdy.
I am more than happy to talk to anyone to wants a reference on Black's foals , Eugenia, APHA IRS GAL
Hey Eileen, Just an update on Shasta. She and Samantha are doing great. Boy you're not kidding, Black's babies are wonderful!  Samantha's babies are wonderful too so this was a perfect cross!! Shasta is just so gentle and sweet I can do anything to her. When I go out to feed she always comes up to greet me. I must say, it will have to be a very special person and home for me to sell her!!!  Tracey

Hi. My name is Paddee Bunting, and I saw your add on agdirect. In 2002 my friend  bred her mare Lil Banner, a sorrel mare with a blaze, to your stallion. The result was my now 5 yr old gelding High Flying Flag. I just wanted to tell you that you have a very nice stallion, and he has very nice babies. Flag is my first (now of many, haha) horse, and I will always own him. He is the perfect riding horse, and I even trust him with children, as you will see. I just thought you might like to see what one of his offspring looks like.

This is one of Blacks sons, out of our Zips Jesse Bueno mare, He truly shows what can become of his prodigy.
